I add a reportbook that contains two reports to the report viewer.
when I view them the document map expands the root node by default. is there away to have the default state be collapsed for the root node?

Hello Andrew,
The DocumentMap in the HTML5 Report Viewer is a kendoTreeView widget. If you want to modify its default behavior, you will have to edit the widget in the telerikReportViewer-8.2.14.1107.js file. You can also use any other widget suitable for your requirements.
I hope the above information is helpful.

The ASP.NET ReportViewer's toolbar is immutable. The content of the DocumentMap area is rendered in an IFRAME element and modifying its content is a matter of hack, which we will not support.
Our recommendation is to switch to the HTML5 Report Viewer introduced as of Telerik Reporting Q3 2013, which will allow you to customize its template freely. The HTML5 viewer is a client-side widget served through a running Reporting REST service. For more details about how it works and the required settings, please check this forum thread.
