Hi

I am using VS 2008 SP1 with telerik 2008 Q2. I created a small project and published it. I copied all the files to production site, but i am getting error as "Sys is Undefined". I googled(telerik forums also) and binged it, but i didnt got any solution for this. After searching i did these things

1) Created a small project and published in Release mode with one label and RadscriptManager

My Web.config File is like this

Hello Bhuvan,

Please try the solution in the following excerpt from this help article:

Problem:

Error message "Microsoft JScript runtime error: 'Sys' is undefined"

Suggested solution:

This error occurs when you have added a control from RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX but your application is not configured to use ASP.NET AJAX. To fix it you need to follow the steps described athttp://www.asp.net/ajax/documentation/live/ConfiguringASPNETAJAX.aspx (check the topic called Adding ASP.NET AJAX Configuration Elements to an Existing Web Site)

Another possible reason for this error (and the solution for it) is explained by the ASP.NET QA team here:

http://weblogs.asp.net/asptest/archive/2008/10/06/asp-net-ajax-and-http-handlers-a-cautionary-tale.aspx

I hope this helps.

Best wishes,
Simon

Hi Bhuvan,

This definition by itself is a standard one and it does not tell much about the possible cause of the issue.

Can you please log the traffic of the page with FiddlerCap, upload the logs to a file hosting provider and paste here the link to the files, so that I can get them and inspect them?

hi thats great..
Changes i made in the web.config file

In the handlers section
1) <add name="Telerik.Web.UI.WebResource" path="Telerik.Web.UI.WebResource.axd" verb="*" type="Telerik.Web.UI.WebResource,Telerik.Web.UI,      Version=2008.2.826.35, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=121fae78165ba3d4"/>

after adding this line its working fine then i added another line in http handlers section

<

add path="Telerik.Web.UI.WebResource.axd" verb="*" type="Telerik.Web.UI.WebResource, Telerik.Web.UI,Version=2008.2.826.35, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=121fae78165ba3d4"  validate="false" />

after adding this i got an error "unabe to load assembly". so i altered the above line

<add path="Telerik.Web.UI.WebResource.axd" verb="*" type="Telerik.Web.UI.WebResource, Telerik.Web.UI"  validate="false" />

it is ok now

but in the above blog it has another two steps in IIS management console. Actually i am getting problem in production site ..can i do this in production site?. after altering the two lines i uploaded  the files into production site again i got the same error "sys is undefined". My production site is 1and1.com

Bhuvan

Hello Bhuvan,

Yes, you also need to configure the IIS web server to allow the .axd extension as well as not to check if a requested .axd file exists. This however should be coordinated with your hosting provider or you could directly configure it yourself.

If you have additional questions, please let me know.

Hi Nannette,

This link was proposed more than three years ago, and the link itself is a post from 2008, so it's not unusual that it's no longer active. If you have an issue that is similar to the one previously discussed in this thread, that the thread didn't point to a solution to, please open a support ticket with more information about your setup and we'll do our best to help you resolve it.
