Hi
I'm using the Q3 preview and have built the report viewer into a web page. Currently, when print is selected, a PDF is created, which has to be manually printed from a PDF viewer. This seems a bit clunky - will the Q3 release enable me to print directly to the default printer, or to select a printer based on a report property?
Cheers

Hello Julian,
Thank you for your interest in the new HTML5 Report Viewer.
Currently the new HTML5 Report Viewer print functionality allows the user to export into PDF the report document with included script that will automatically open the print dialog on previewing the PDF file.
There is still option to change this to be as in the ASP.NET ReportViewer, where the print functionality depends on the browser PDF plug-in - the supported plugins are Adobe PDF and Chrome PDF. Notice that not all browsers support these plugins. If the PDF plug-in is not detected or supported, clicking the print button would export the report to PDF and depending on the browser would either open it directly or ask you to save the PDF file.
Our aim is to have consistent behavior in different browsers and to satisfy our community members needs. Thus we will appreciate your opinion and reasons to prefer the new print functionality or the old one.
Regards,
Stef

Have you tried the new visualization options in Telerik Reporting Q2 2013? You can get them from your account.

Thanks for the response Peter,
I have downloaded the update from the Telerik Control Panel and I am now trying to apply the update to my solution in Visual Studio. Do I just need to update to ReportViewer.js files within the client application or do I also need to update the assemblies within the WebApi that serves the reports?

I was able to apply the update to my project by simply updating the references to Telerik.Reporting and Telerik.Reporting.Services.WebApi. But, I have found that direct printing is not working properly in Firefox 29.0.1 (latest), it simply does not display the print dialog. It is working nicely in IE, Chrome and Safari though.

Hello Mike,
Please follow the instructions for manual upgrade in the Upgrading Telerik Reporting Projects article. Then check if the problematic browser conforms the requirements listed in the Direct Print article. Test also on other machines to see if the issue occurs again.
In case the issue is reproducible only in Firefox 29+ versions, the problem is already logged into our system for improvement and we will provide a fix in the next official release in June or a consecutive internal build. Still in Firefox the print operation will ffall back to export into PDF. For more details check the Print in Firefox KB article.
