Incorporate Grid's Column Filtering Mechanism

Is it possible to have the functionality in a listview similar to where a user can set the filtering on a grid column? (the little popup via column header filter button).?

Yes, that behavior could be achieved by initializing a FilterMenu widget, as shown in this small example.
