I have searched the internet to see if this issue is solvable in another context but can find nothing.

The issue I have is that the Grid markup never stays where you put it horizontally.  So you can bring it back all the way to the left in the template and the next time you open it everything but the first line of the grid markup is indented like 3 inches.

Is anyone else experiencing this?  I am using VS 2017 professional.

Hello Reid,

I checked our data records, and I was not able to find a similar case. Having said that, could you please share screencasts or a short video that would help me better understand the scenario. Additionally, feel free to share any additional information that might be relevant.

Hello Preslav,

I have attached a screen shot that shows the markup on the run to the right after closing and re-opening the solution.

Thanks

Hello Reid,

Thank you for the screencast, I believe I understand the problem.

I checked the public forums, and I found an issue with the auto-formatting of visual studio razor/cshtml files:
It seems that this issue is fixed in the latest release of VS2017.

Additionally, for the time being, we, as a library, do not have control over Visual Studio cshtml formatting.

I know you have no control over the Text editor in the IDE but I am a bit confused.

First of all the cut and paste is not in play here.  I do know that that link you provide addresses cut and paste in general.  And I realized a long time ago that when pasting HTML into a razor template you would need to hit Ctrl-Z immediately afterwards to get the text window to reformat it.

This is not happening for HTML (Razor or not) in the razor template.  Only the Kendo UI grid markup.

Hi Reid,

I understand the problem. I believe there is a feature of VS that automatically formats the files on load, however, after a quick research, I was not able to find such an option, and eventually how to stop it.

Having said that, for now, I am not sure how we could overcome this behavior. I will continue my investigation, and if I find something relevant, I will update this forum.

Thank you for the reply.  Please continue researching something to resolve this.  I will mark is as answered but technically it is not because there is no resolve.
