Export to Excel Programmatically

How can I programmatically export the grid to excel?  I have a right click context menu that has an option for "export".  When I click this item I need to perform the export.

Ok, thanks.  I figured there would be a method on the grid reference itself.  I guess I'll have to table it for now since I'm not quite satisfied with the two workarounds.

Hello Justin,

The feature request is to provide such a method. Since it is not available yet, there are two possible workarounds. The best way to know when  it gets implemented is to click the Follow button on the feedback portal page with the request.
