Hello Chris,

There is an option to create and integrate custom rendering extension in your report viewers. For more details please check my colleague's explanation in the Export to XML forum thread.

We will appreciate it if you elaborate what rendering extension you need to add to the current list and the reason for it.

We have a customer who needs a text file with formatting (as in text placement) as close to the richer formats (e.g. PDF, image, docx, etc) as possible. We've tried copying and pasting, but due to the nature of how everything is relatively positioned, that doesn't translate well into a text document. This is really a one off thing for us. I don't expect you guys to add this to your list of customer needs.

Hi Chris,

To customize the rendering behavior of the RTF or DOCX rendering you will need the products source code, and the new rendering extension would have to be manually updated on upgrade.

Please test the following options for allowing the end-user to further modify the produced document:
  1. Add TextBox items at the place the user has to add notes in the final document and export the report in RTF or DOCX format;
  2. Try loading the document in a Telerik editor control depending on type of project e.g. RadEditor (Telerik UI for ASP.NET AJAX) and allow the user to make changes on the content.

Feel free to open a support ticket and send us more information - the report, test data and details how and where the user should be able to include content. Thus we can better understand your requirements.

Regards,
Stef
