ASP.NET Telerik Reporting Toolbox not showing

In Visual Studio 2013, I cannot see the toolbox tab of Telerik in the Report Designer, even after re-installing.

I've followed this article: http://www.telerik.com/support/kb/reporting/details/telerik-reporting-toolbox-items-are-missing

Finding out, I miss no registry keys, at all. But when I removed the TBD files and removed the two mentioned keys and started VS (devenv.exe /ResetSkipPkgs /Log "C:\ActivityLog.xml") and entered the toolbox, I got this output into the log file:

The key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\Packages\{2c298b35-07da-45f1-96a3-be55d91c8d7a}" exists, but I added "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\12.0\Packages\{2c298b35-07da-45f1-96a3-be55d91c8d7a}", too.
The default value of the "Toolbox" subkey is set to 1 in both locations.

Hello Martin,

Do you have only one version of Telerik Reporting installed? Generally due to VS peculiarities the toolbox items only on the latest installed version are shown.

About the errors it seems that there are multiple issues with the ToolboxControlsInstaller and our recommendation is to try a Visual Studio Repair.

Up to the error, we don't have such error and generally we permit copy and paste operation report definitions of the same version.

If you still have issues with the Visual Studio Report Designer our suggestion is to try our Standalone Report Designer.

Hello Peter,

yes, I have only one Version of Telerik Reporting installed (Q1 2013 build 7.0.13.220).

So what I've done now? I have removed the TBD files and the two registry keys "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\ToolboxControlsInstaller_AssemblyFoldersExCache" and "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\ToolboxControlsInstallerCache" again.

Then, without starting VS, I repaired Visual Studio 2013 and restarted the PC. I started the VS with "/ResetSkipPkgs /log <file>". Here is the log file: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/55589036/zzzOther/ActivityLog.xml

The problem persisted. I uninstalled and installed the Telerik Reporting another time, removed the TBD files and the two keys again, started again, same problem.

Time is money, I want to finish that one report I have to finish quickly. I tried to import the report into your standalone application, but I can't. The report I have to complete is a sub-report that is not shown in the imported assembly after importing the .NET component, I just see the base report. I thought it was because my sub-report has no parameter-less constructor, but that was not the problem.

What are the right conditions to find a report in the library component?

Wow I cannot believe it, now I can use the items I have manually added to my toolbox.

I was adding a TextBox by hand in the designer.cs:

private Telerik.Reporting.TextBox test;

// In InitializeComponent() :

this.test.Left = new Telerik.Reporting.Drawing.Unit(100);

this.test.Top = new Telerik.Reporting.Drawing.Unit(100);

this.test.Height = new Telerik.Reporting.Drawing.Unit(100);

this.items.Add(this.test);

And after going back to the designer it worked and finally I could use the items on the toolbox again. But they are not showing automatically, but at least I can use those I added by hand, finally.

I'm pretty sure it was not the designer file itself, because on other reports it did not work either, but now it works everywhere. I hope this persists.

Hello Martin,

Support for Visual Studio 2013 is added in Q3 2013 SP1 (7.2.14.127). Thus our recommendation is to upgrade your Telerik Reporting installation or use supported Visual Studio version 2008, 2010 and 2012.

About importing the reports to the standalone report designer, parameterless constructors are required because otherwise the wizard can't create the report instances required by our XML serializer.

Generally the trdx report definitions are just serialized in XML reports with trdx extension. Thus you can try to manually serialize the reports as elaborated in the referenced help article.
