Telerik blogs

We already started the pre-release blog wave with WPF and it is time to continue with some details about the Telerik suites for ASP.NET AJAX and MVC.

The highlight of the upcoming Q3 2010 release for RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX is the addition of two new controls – RadTreeList and RadButton.

RadTreeList is a valuable extension of the toolset as it adds yet another means to display data in hierarchical format. The treelist combines the flexibilities of a traditional treeview and a grid in one hybrid control. It will give developers the freedom to manipulate the underlying data and display it in a grid-like hierarchy. This unique component will help you create visual representations of your data previously impossible with either the grid or the standard treeview. With its release the control will support features like sorting, paging, client and server selection and binding to various datasources.

With its upcoming release the AJAX suite will also introduce the RadButton. The button inherits and extends the functionality of ASP Button, LinkButton and ImageButton. It allows you to take advantage of advanced features not available in the standard buttons like split button functionality, ability to combine images and text, and extended client-side API.

We have also developed a separate version of RadEditor for ASP.NET AJAX with accessible UI that can be used in regular ASP.NET websites and SharePoint. Furthermore, RadGrid SharePoint 2010 WebPart is enhanced with options to bind to Sql Database and the option to define master details relations/hierarchy either using SharePoint lists or Sql tables.

Starting Q3 2010, the Telerik ASP.MVC suite becomes richer with two new extensions – TimePicker and DateTimePicker. The TimePicker will give the ability to enter time directly or select it from a timeview popup. Among the extension’s features will be globalization, built-in client and server validation support, animations and rich client API and events. The DateTimePicker extension, on the other hand, will combine the features of the MVC TimePicker and DatePicker to allow end users to select date and time simultaneously from separate popups.

Apart from introducing two new components, the Telerik Extensions for ASP.NET MVC will ship also multiple Grid enhancements and improved accessibility and RTL support for all extensions. The Grid will feature more flexible binding, column reordering and extended set of templates allowing for a variety of header, footer and toolbar customizations.
