Telerik UI for Winforms
Welcome to our 2020 roadmap and thank you for being a partner in its development! Thanks to your input in our yearly product survey and continuous feedback throughout the year, we are able to channel our efforts and resources into building the tools and features you need – it’s a win-win for everyone!
Please, make use of our feedback portal and keep sharing what you need to make building WinForms applications quicker and easier.
Now, here is a list of what we plan to deliver in the upcoming year!
Our team is working hand in hand with Microsoft for the anticipated launch of the .NET Core Windows Forms Designer in 2020. This is a significant effort due to the new concept used for building the designer. Our plans are to make sure that all of Telerik UI for WinForms controls can be used at design time when it is launched.
Ease the migration of your projects with .NET Core Converter – a Visual Studio tooling for WinForms which will enable you to easily convert your existing projects into .NET Core ones.
With the recent release of Telerik UI for WinForms, we introduced support for the latest version of .NET Core - 3.1 LTS. LTS versions are long term support and Microsoft will be supporting them for three years (more about .NET Core support)
The next version of .NET Core is anticipated to be .NET 5 (planned for Nov 2020) and our plans are to introduce support for it as early as possible, so you can start utilizing it right away.
Build high DPI applications with WinForms’ support for displaying vector graphics. We plan on introducing support for vector images in all controls, so they scale appropriately on all DPI settings and provide excellent end user experience.
The Validation provider will enable you to cover the most common validation scenarios for your WinForms application and visualize errors for all applicable controls in the suite.
The Toast Notification Manager will enable you to easily take advantage of the rich Windows 10 toast notifications and display a notification message to your users.
We are planning on introducing full support for content controls in the WinForms RichTextEditor control, by providing the capability to display and add both via the UI and via API, the different types of content controls as defined in the Open Office XML standard - such as combo boxes, drop down list, checkboxes, date pickers, rich text and more.
We operate in a dynamic environment, and things are subject to change. The information provided on these and related pages is intended to outline the general Telerik product direction. It is intended for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon when making any purchasing decision. We may decide to add new controls at any time depending on our capability to deliver products meeting our quality standards. The development, releases and timing of any features or functionality described for Telerik products remains at the sole discretion of Progress. These roadmaps do not represent a commitment, obligation or promise to deliver any products to the customer at any time.
