I just installed the 2010 Q1 release, and all my controls that were using the WebBlue skin now all look way different.
Is this to be expected?
If so, why make a change like this? Why not just create another skin that looks like the NEW WebBlue and call it WebSilver (as it seems there is lots of grey/silver in this new webblue) or something different instead of changing an exisitng skin style?

Hello Patrick,
We changed the look of all our skins for Q1 2009. I suppose that you have upgraded from an earlier RadControls version? Here is some more information about the change:
http://blogs.telerik.com/tervelpeykov/posts/09-02-23/RadControls_for_ASP_NET_AJAX_receive_a_major_face-lift.aspx
I recommend you to switch to the new embedded skins, but if your scenario requires keeping the old look by all means, then you can use the old WebBlue skin as a custom skin:
http://www.telerik.com/community/forums/aspnet-ajax/general-discussions/all-radcontrols-q3-2008-skins-are-now-compatible-with-the-q1-2009-release.aspx
You can also create a custom embedded skin to make CSS file registration easier:
http://www.telerik.com/community/forums/aspnet-ajax/style-builder/tool-for-embedding-custom-skins-into-an-assembly.aspx
Let us know if you need more information.

Dimo,
Thanks for the reply.
Did you mean Q1 2010? I am using the most up to date version of the RadGrid controls for the last few months and was not even using Telerik back in Q1 2009.
The changes I have seen in WebBlue came between these versions:
2009.3 1314 Jan 14, 2010
and
2010.1 309 Mar 9, 2010
If needed, I could revert one of our projects back to the 2009.3.1314 dll to show you screen shots, but I found this one online and it looks how our webblue used to look:
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_4UvbuCeaYm4/Sq-jIC679zI/AAAAAAAAACs/jA_PRFJUNTw/s1600-h/radgrid.png
If you notice, the "Add New Record" button is green, and if there were a "Refresh" button on this grid it would be green as well. This is how it was 3 weeks ago. Now, our webblue grids look like the attached png file.
The "Add New Record" is now just a silver cross and the refresh button as well is silver. These buttons are enabled, but appear disabled to our users with the new design.
In addition, while it isn't show in these screen shots, the loading panel "loading" spinner is now a darker shade of blue as well. It used to be light blue and now is a dark blue.
Thanks for the reply.

Hi Patrick,
For Q1 2010 we changed the appearance of the RadGrid add / edit / delete / refresh and paging icons. We consider this a minor change, so when you said "way different", I thought you have upgraded from pre-Q1 2009 version.
The RadAjaxLoadingPanel animated image is also different and now looks better when used over various updated controls. Previously the animated image used antialiasing to a specific color and did not look good in some scenarios.
You can change the "Add" and "Refresh" buttons by specifying
<MasterTableView>
<CommandItemSettings AddNewRecordImageUrl="......" RefreshImageUrl="......." />
</MasterTableView>
I will pass your feedback to our designers. They can consider improving the look of the buttons, so that they do not look disabled. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
Kind regards,
Dimo

I would concur with Patrick that the new icons for the WebBlue are a good bit different than the previous release and have the appearance of being disabled. I'm considering just changing the skin of our grids to Vista or Windows7 and leaving the rest of the controls as WebBlue since the new WebBlue went all blue. Please consider going back to the standard colored icons on the grid for the WebBlue skin as our users are accustomed to that style and the the different commands (delete, edit, cancel, etc) no longer stand apart and blend together as they are all the same shade of blue.
