Hi,

Everytime after i open visual studio and open any design (even if it's an xaml file), the toolbox items for telerik are added... by now each icon appears already 4 times.

It's extremely enoying because it hangs visual studio during the time that the icons are added.

In att. you'll find proof.

I'm using Q1 2011, Visual Studio 2010, Win7 Pro 64 bit

Hi Peter,

Try resetting the Visual Studio Toolbox in order to fix this problem. Should the problem persists after the reset, please re-install Telerik Reporting.

I have reset the toolbox... didn't help
I have reinstalled the application... didn't help either

It still adds the same icons time and time again. It also locks up Visual Studio completely for several minutes while adding those icons.

Extremely annoying!

Hello Peter,

We were not able to reproduce this on our end. We have the following questions/suggestions:
  • What other Telerik products you have installed?
  • When did this start happening. Did you install or uninstall a product prior that?
  • Check the version of the Telerik.Reporting.VsPackage.dll assembly in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies" -  should be 3.14.0.0
  • Under registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\VisualStudio\10.0\Packages\{2c298b35-07da-45f1-96a3-be55d91c8d7a}\Toolbox
increase "Default Items" value by 1
After that, from VS2010 command prompt execute: devenv /setup

Let us know how it goes.

Best wishes,
Steve

I also have Telerik tools for Silverlight installed

Checked all the other stuff, all is ok.

Lately, when i opened an xaml page, the whole visual representation of the toolbox gets "garbled" (by lack of a better word), i can not tell which button is which and the whole toolbar (not only reporting) becomes unusable.

I then executed devenv /setup in command prompt and press enter nothing happens, no error either, just shows me the prompt again. But when i reopened Visual Studio all toolbars including Telerik Silverlight controls were removed. I closed visual studio and reopened it... it reloaded the toolbars but with the same nasty problem (see att.)

The way it looks now, i'm going to have no choice then to uninstall Telerik Reporting, in order for me to be able to continue my work.

Hi Peter,

Can confirm that this problem happens only when Telerik Reporting is installed? We do not believe that the screenshot from your last post is related to the garbled toolbox as we do not do anything to affect other products installed in the toolbox. It would seem that your Visual Studio got corrupted and repair or re-install should solve the problem.

Reinstall VS did not help, but finally this did:

http://www.eggheadcafe.com/sample-code/VisualStudio.NET/3bdf86c8-ae1c-4832-9579-692febe2325f/visual-studio-2010-loading-toolbox-content-from-package-takes-a-very-long-time.aspx

It still takes a while each time i open the first XAML, but the buttons are not garbled and it doesn't take as long as before anymore.

The given problem arises every time after reboot VisualStudio2010. How many time is made start VisualStudio, so much times are duplicated icons in TollBox. And each time it is necessary to delete files *.tbd. Reinstallation VisualStudio hasn't solved a problem. In what way it is possible to solve this problem once and for all?
All above-stated ways don't help.

Hi,

Have you installed SP1 of VS2010? If not please uninstall Telerik Reporting, install the VS2010 SP1 and re-install the latest version of Telerik Reporting.

All the best,

I have reinstalled Windows 7 x64, have applied all recommended Microsoft updatings, installed VisualStudio 2010 Premium, installed VS2010 SP1.
I Install Silverlight_Developer_x64, Silverlight5_Tools, Silverlight_5_Toolkit_December_2011
Then has downloaded and install last versions RadControls for Silverlight 2011.3 1220 (Dec 20, 2011) and Telerik Reporting 5.3. 12.119 (Jan 19, 2012).
The problem is not solved. Count Items in ToolBox increases on 1 after each loading VS2010.

@TFOMS_Vrn

To be honest, it's not solved for me either, i can basically make it go away with some of the solutions below, but then i wind up with an empty toolbox, free of any telerik controls. As soon as i install them again, the problem returns.

I have at the end just accepted it as it is and i simply define them in XAML and i don't use the toolbox anymore. I simply have no time to waste anymore on this.

Btw: i have two laptops... and i have the problem on both. So both my Visual Studio Installations got corrupted? that must mean visual studio is really a crappy product. A colleague of mine has the same problem also. It's so hard to believe that Telerik can not reproduce this issue, since so many people are reporting the same.

At forum DevExpress to me have told how to solve a problem. It is necessary to uninstall WCFRiaServices SP2. Uninstalled, and all became good.

same here...telerik is installed like 10 times, and VS takes 20 minutes to open up any project...on a SSD Intel 7 32gb of memory box!  This is insanity.  Coding in notepad is faster....VS is also very unstable.

I had triple icons. Probably because I had Q3 2011, Q1 2012 and Q2 2012 installed until just a month ago.

When I choose "choose items" in toolbox, the items are listed with different versions (5.3.11, 6.0 and 6.1). I assume these correspond to the respective Telerik Reporting versions.

When deselecting items for the 5.3 release and pressing OK, visual studio froze and eventually reported that the background process for managing a cache database for the toolbox had thrown an OutOfMemoryException.

After restarting VS, The correct icons were displayed. No duplicates, even though I never got around to disable toolbox items for the 6.0 release.

I've had the same problem for months.  I keep checking back every month or so expecting a solution.  I've tried every suggestion I can find.  I can't believe this still isn't fixed.  VERY annoying.

(Every time you open the toolbox in Visual Studio, all of the telerik controls are duplicated.)
