After installing Telerik Reporting Q1 2008 SP1, all of the items except Telerik Report have disappeared from the New Item dialog in Visual Studio. I am using Windows XP Pro SP3. The information from my Visual Studio About dialog is below.

Hello Joel,

I've just checked this locally and I am not able to reproduce it. Can you check the attached screenshot and verify if this is not the same thing you've encountered? Should you click on the Visual C# Project Items, you would be able to see all standard items.

If this is not the case, please provide screenshot/instructions on how to replicate this locally and we will advice you accordingly.

Regards,
Steve

Steve:

Yes, you are correct, if I click on the Visual C# icon, I see the rest of the new item options.  Thanks for that information.

However, this behavior is NOT standard and IMHO is not correct. The percentage of new items that I add that are reports is a far lower percentage than the percentage of other items (class or web form for example). To force a default new item of Telerik report is not user friendly.

Is there a way to change this behavior? (such as a preference setting) If not, please consider changing this so Telerik Reports behave like other components that integrate into Visual Studio.

Hi Joel Reinford,

We did not come up with this idea on our own - CrystalReports template is installed in the exact same folder and we decided that this is a good idea. So far you are the only one who reports that this is not intuitive.
The good news is that removing our template from there is quite easy. To make the long story short, I've attached screenshot with instructions.

Let us know if further help is needed.

Best wishes,
Steve
