Using the Kendo UI Theme Builder

When using the Theme Builder and extracting the CSS, there are some references to images. For example...

.k-tool-icon.k-state-active.k-state-hover {

    background-image: url('http://da7xgjtj801h2.cloudfront.net/2012.3.1315/styles/Metro/sprite.png');

}

How should those images be changed so they fit the new color scheme? Can they be generated with specific foreground / background colors?

Hello Michael,

The Kendo UI ThemeBuilder is able to generate CSS code, but it cannot modify images. In case you need a custom color scheme for the sprite image, or a custom icon design, you will need to edit the sprite image or create a new one. The easiest option is to open the sprite in Photoshop and use the Hue / Saturation / Lightness tool to change the color scheme.

thanks a lot for the answer. Changing the sprite directly would be easier, if the original file were available. Can we download the images in a Photoshop or Illustrator file format somewhere?

Here they are. The 2x versions include larger images for retina displays.

Kendo UI theme designs can be provided as PSDs only. I am afraid we do not have corresponding AI files.

Is this PSD file still valid for the latest release (2016.2.504)? If not, can you please provide the latest?

I am surprised that icon color cannot be customised using the theme builder. One would think that with LESS, SASS and possibly some external libraries, one would be able to generate a sprite-sheet dynamically (assuming of course, your original designs are vector files, like fonts).
