Upgrading to latest version of Rad Controls

We want to upgrade to the latest version of Rad controls.
Currently we are using the following controls with respective versions in our application.
    RadAjax.Net2.dll      1.7.2.0 
    RadCalendar.Net2.dll  2.1.2.0 
    RadComboBox.Net2.dll  2.7.2.0 
    RadGrid.Net2.dll     4.6.2.0 
    RadWindow.Net2.dll   1.8.2.0 
    RadTabStrip.Net2.dll 3.5.2.0 
    RadSplitter.Net2.dll 1.2.2.1 
    RadMenu.Net2.dll     4.3.2.0 
    RadInput.Net2.dll    2.0.2.0 
    RadWindow.Net2.dll  1.8.2.0

From Teleric site we came to know that to upgrade to the latest version we will have to manually change the code files to make use of latest version. See below link.

We are looking for some way by which we can upgrade to the latest version by just changing the Dll reference or any other quick way.

Please advice.

Hi Sandeep,

You will need to follow the instructions from each individual topic from the relevant AJAX control documentation in order to migrate to RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX. Here are the corresponding articles for RadComboBox and RadGrid (you already found that for RadEditor):

Hello Manoj,

The enlisted controls in your post are from an extremely old version and I am obliged to note the following:

- They are part of the RadControls for ASP.NET Classic which has not been supported for over 7 years at the time of writing. It has been replaced by the newer UI for ASP.NET AJAX suite back in 2009.
- The latest version of the ".Net2.dll" classic controls do not support any of the current browsers and I cannot guarantee that any functionality in it will work. Thus, I strongly advise you rework your project to utilize the UI for ASP.NET AJAX suite. Most controls have articles that explain this process to help you get started with the basics and the core changes:

We are using a 2012 version of ASP.Net ajax Telerik controls and plan to upgrade to the latest.

Can you tell me if the latest telerik controls (DevCraft) have backward compatibility with the older version? If yes, is there an upgrade process for it?

Hi Suresh,

Generally, we try to avoid breaking changes as much as possible. In some cases changes are needed for the suite to grow and we try to list them in the following sticky thread: http://www.telerik.com/forums/known-issues-and-important-changes. I suggest you review posts for the releases that concern you. It is likely that there are changes in the suite, but I cannot say whether they concern you, this depends on the features and controls you use.

I also advise that you go through the release notes for those releases to get informed on what is going on: http://www.telerik.com/support/whats-new/aspnet-ajax/release-history.
