I'm getting a message
Extension 'Telerik UserSettings VSExtension 2.1' likely cuased 9 seconds of unresponsiveness. Disabling it may improve your experience.
According to https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/sqlserver/en-US/9fe58a7b-07bd-4efe-b1a5-8dc3bb33ee79/extension-microsoft-integration-services-projects-13-likely-caused-11-seconds-of-unresponsiveness?forum=ssdt, this is due to 15.6.0 of VS2017 displaying this message for extensions that are not loaded async.
Two Things:
1. Can you update the extension to make it load async?
2. Can I disable it without impacting my work?
Thanks!

Thank you for sharing your feedback.
We have plans to improve the user experience during loading and your feedback will be taken in consideration when we prioritize our backlog.
Currently the extension of UI for ASP.NET Core has only project templates and functionality for downloading the latest version of the assemblies. If you think these features are no essential for you and the initial unresponsiveness impacts your workflow significantly you can safely remove of disable the extensions from Extensions and Updates (Tools | Extensions and Updates...).
Please let us know if you need further assistance.

You need to address this issue immediately. SSDT/SSIS is unusable with the Telerik VS extensions enabled.
A simple save on a package take multiple minutes, pegs the cpu and runs the devenv.exe memory up to 2GB!!!
VS goes white screen until it finishes up to a couple minutes later.
Latest versions of everything. This is unacceptable!
Could you please provide detailed reproduction steps because we are not able to reproduce the problem on our side? We also will need the information from About Microsoft Visual Studio dialog.
I suggest that you open a private support ticket. In this way you will be provided faster support.

I seem to experience the same issues that Travis has reported. Saves take several minutes, and Memory/CPU spikes during the process. The Telerik extensions must stay disabled when working with SSIS projects/packages.

Thank you for contacting us with more information about this issue. I was able to reproduce it and it seems to be caused by the Telerik ASP.NET Core and Telerik ASP.NET MVC extensions. So you should be able to workaround the issue for now by disabling just these two packages. I have logged the issue in our backlog and we will consider fixing it for one of our next releases.

Hi Josh,
Thank you for the additional feedback. We plan to fix that issue in the next major release. It will be helpful if you share a memory dump file to investigate it. It is most convenient to open a support ticket where we will provide detailed instructions.

Our thoughts here at Progress are with those affected by the outbreak.
Hi,
It's 2020 and the problem remains unsolved. I had to disable both Extensions. I've got reports of 196 seconds. During that time VS is totally frozen. I hope this issue will be fix any time.
Hello Todd,
We have identified different scenarios that lead to unresponsiveness in Visual Studio some of which are now resolved. An example is the existence of SSDT/SSIS project in the solution. However, not all fixes are released yet.
Please, open an individual support ticket so I can share with you a pre-release version of the extension to give it a try.

Hello,
I would like to follow up with further information that we have invested some time to improve the performance experience with the Visual Studio Extensions for all product suites. The fix is already live and the new extensions' version should be available in the Visual Studio Marketplace.
I would highly encourage you to upgrade and it would be greatly appreciated if you share any feedback about the introduced improvements.
Regards.
