Hi. I'm trying to uninstall Telerik Reporting Q1 so I can install Q2. However I get the following error:

"Error 1321. The Installer has insufficient privileges to modify the file C:\ ... \Data\AdventureWorks_Data.mdf"

A previous posted had an issue with this database - it is attached to SQL Server and I've ensured I have file permissions for all the folders and files in the Telerik folder. When the uninstall runs it prompts for permissions which I grant (I'm on Vista).

Probably something simple but I cant seem to spot it.

Thanks
Tristan

Hello Tristan Campbell,

We are very sorry for the inconvenience.

This seems like a known issue. It happens because the database file changes its owner when it is attached to the SQL Server and later the windows installer has no privileges to remove it, even though you grant your credentials. We suppose that you have the Windows Vista User Account Control (UAC) turned on. Can you try these several steps:

Try running the uninstall shortcut with right-click and "Run as Administrator".

Alternatively, using SQL Server Management Studio, detach the AdventureWorksT samples database by hand and then run the uninstaller.

If this does not help, try removing Telerik Reporting with the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and then read the following KB article about migration to Telerik Reporting Q2 2007.

I hope this information helps. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.
Thank you in advance.

Best wishes,
Ross

Thanks for the prompt reply - running the icon as administrator did the trick. I was using the uninstall from Programs and Features in the Control Panel as I had not seen the uninstall icon in the start menu.

Thanks
Tristan
