Maybe I am getting confused between when a codeless solution is magic and when you need to use codeless events.
Is there any documentation out there that can help clear this concept up ? If not, I would love to get paid to research and write about that !! It is probably out there and I just dont know where to look ?
I read instructions on the codeless controls that say "put this here, put that there and your good to go !! " But when I run into issues, I see various forums giving answers that lead back to using events. It is great that
telerik tools have an event for almost everything that happens in a codeless solution, the question becomes when to use the events and when to ask telerik support for help because a codeless solution is working out ?
My thinking is that using the events rather than figuring out some codeless problems come on a case by case basis. However, is there any ryme or reasoning about when it is more pratical to use codeless events ?
Sometimes I think just using the codeless solution events for everything almost always gaurantees faster success and gives more control over the functioning of a Control.
I am new to the telerik RAD Controls, and I want to use the
product as intended, toward the intended effiency. I want to get good at using all of the RAD controls and I know this will take time, so, is there any documentaiton on when to use the codeless solution events ? where ? and especially why ?
For example, when using the LinqDataSource whereparameters. Some scenerios allow me to use it codelessly, while others need a little event help. I know this is a very general example, but those who have run into things like parameter issues know what I mean because I have seen dozens of post from several forums from people seeking answers.
It could be that the only answer is obvious, that is, codeless solution events are there to use if and when you need them. If thats the only answer, then thats fine.
And finally, is there any documentation that speaks to the limitations and advantagous of the various datasource contols when used with telerik ?
TELERIK, all and all, your product is great. The litany of events give tremendous flexibility. Because of all the events, I can find many ways to develop my applications !!!
