RadPageView will be the successor of RadTabStrip and RadPanelBar by providing different views over a collection of pages. Each page is a stand-alone Panel where controls may be added through the Visual Studio Designer. The control is fully customizable yet greatly optimized for both memory consumption and performance. It will offer better item sizing and spacing, as well as extended orientation modes over the other two controls. Read more in the following blog posts:

What will happen to the old controls?

The old controls will be supported for at least one year after the release of Q2 2010. Users will nevertheless be encouraged to use RadPageView since it addresses the fundamental shortcomings of the previous controls.

Is upgrading to the new controls easy?

Upgrading from the old to the new control should be easy and painless, unless you have extended the previous controls with custom functionality. If this is the case, please contact Telerik support and we will help you move to the new version. We will also try to provide an automatic upgrade tool with Q2 2010 SP1.

Videos and instructions on how to upgrade from the old versions to the new control will be posted shortly.

How do I get support for the new controls?

To get technical support, either contact Telerik support or post in the PageView Forum.

Hello Michael,

RadTabStrip and RadPageView are a part of our WinForms suite. This change will affect your application only if it is a Windows Forms application using RadControls for WinForms.

Hi,
maybe I am a little bit slow in upgrading the controls. But: Where are the 'videos and instructions on how to upgrade'?
Kind regards

Hi Christian,

You can upgrade from RadTabStrip to RadPageView manually. This is demonstrated in the following video:
http://tv.telerik.com/watch/winforms/converting-from-radtabstrip-to-radpageview

You can also upgrade to RadPageView using the Conversion Tool that we have implemented. This is demonstrated in the following article:
http://www.telerik.com/help/winforms/pageview-upgrading-to-radpageview.html

Please note that both materials assume that you have a version prior to Q3 2011, since Q2 2011 SP1 was the last version which contained the RadTabStrip implementation. In other words, this is the last version where you are able to see the design-time of your form if this form contains RadTabStrip, and this is the last version where you can use the Conversion Tool that is opened from the SmartTag of the obsolete control.

So, if you have updated to Q3 2011, I would recommend that you switch back to Q2 2011 SP1, upgrade your obsolete controls using the provided resources, and then switch again to Q3 2011.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have additional questions.

Regards,
Nikolay
the Telerik team

SP1 of Q3’11 of RadControls for WinForms is available for download (see what's new).
