I put the Prometheus Editor into a production environment today quite confident that the switch from our previous $40 off-the-shelf HTML editor would have our users wowed. Instead, several pointed out some basic ommissions which, at first, i could not believe were not part of Editor (i equally could not believe i had not noticed this up until now).

Our $40 editor included the ability to edit a cell and adjust the padding (left, right, top , bottom) and borders (width, size and which sides). These were fundamental to maintaining attractive content for our users.

Please someone, tell me i'm missing something here or that this vital functionality is just around the corner!

cheers,
rob

Hi rdochert,

We are in the process of implementing a StyleBuilder dialog that will appear in the official Prometheus release Q1 2008 scheduled for April. This dialog will feature the ability to fine-tune the visual look and feel of each HTML element.

At present the editor support editing of tables and cells through its TableWizard dialog which can be opened from the context menu (when right clicking on a table cell), and also from the InsertTable dropdown.

The dialog provides the ability to set borders and padding, but these are not possible to configure for individual cells.

Can you open a support ticket and send us a screenshot from the dialog of your other editor, just to examine - and to compare it with our current implementation of the StyleBuilder control?

All the best,

Hi,
can you please explain how i can do this using the new stylebuilder? i've tried several times and each time i use it, the style is applied as a SPAN tag rather than being added to the TD tag.
thanks,
rob

Hi Rdochert,

I strongly suggest that you upgrade your version of RadControls to the latest version, which now is 2008.3.1125.

Regarding your StyleBuilder problem you can find an online demo in our website http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/Editor/Examples/XhtmlValidatorTrackChangesFormatCodeBlockDialogs/DefaultCS.aspx, where the described behavior works in IE. There is a problem under Fire Fox though. When the style is applied, the td element disappears.  We will fix this in our next release. For now you can find a workaround for this issue in the attached page (EditorDialogues.aspx).

We found some other not expected behaviors as well and we are working on fixing them.

There is a task in our To Do list to implement the ability to call StyleBuilder dialogue from TableProperties and CellProperties dialogues. This way the user will be able to set the css style directly from the Table Wizard. Hopefully the Editor will have this functionality in one of our next releases.

Thank you for the pointed bug. 1000 telerik points go to your account.
