Hi Paul,
The Silverlight viewer although not build against Silverlight 5 works flawlessly with the RadControls for Silverlight that are build for SL5. In this line of thoughts, you can go ahead and upgrade without worries. We would most likely build against SL5 for the upcoming Q1 2012 release.
