Runtime Licensing

Hi I am a software developer for a software house and we are looking are programming our reports using Telerik. My question is, What are the licensing terms for our clients as they will only need a runtime environment to render the reports and export them to PDF ect. Do they need to purchase full licences or is their another cheaper (possibly free) option for them?

Hello Derek Boseley,

We sell developer tools, which means that your clients will not need to purchase a separate licenses UNLESS they decide that they need to extend the application you have built and provided for them by themselves. In this case, they will need to purcahse a separate developer license. The Developer Licenses are perpetual and have NO deployment limitations.

I'd like to inquire more about this issue, and the EULA is too long for me to read.

If my company bought one license of Telerik Reports, it will be legal to distribute the runtime bundled with our product to as many customers we wish, as I understood from your answer. But will it be legal to have more than one developer developing reports using the trial version designer, and submit these reports to the developer who have the licensed copy to make the final build?

Reading the product license agreement is a must if you intend to purchase the product - Telerik Reporting License Agreement. The answers at the specific issues can be found in point 2. Software License and 4. License for Redistribution.
