I'm using the same reports/charts to display in both Web pages and in WinForms.  In the web pages the reportviewer displays the report with no margins in a 7-inch wide by 4-inch tall display.  On printing, these print nicely with margins as set in the PageSettings properties.

Whereas, in my WinForm pages, the reportviewer displays the report in "page" mode with the PageSettings margins.  So there is a long vertical scroll bar with the lower 60% of the "page" blank.  Is there any way to get the WinForm reportviewer to display compactly with no margins and no vertical scroll bar, like the web pages do?

Hello Dan,

The output of a report rendered in HTML and Image rendering (i.e. Web and Windows Forms) differs because both medias are quite different. The 1st (HTML) is dedicated to displaying information on screen and the page is infinite by width and height; in contrast the 2nd format - Image (PDF)- supports physical pages and is meant not only for reading on screen but for printing.

According to whether the format supports physical pages, we separate the export formats on two groups: page-oriented (PDF, Image (print preview), print, XPS, RTF) and non-page oriented (HTML/MHTML, Excel, CSV).

For the page-oriented formats the content layout is on horizontal and vertical pages according the page settings of the report, while for the rest of the formats take into considerations other characteristics of the media like the grid of the Excel worksheet.

So to recap and answer your question directly, the WinForms viewer cannot display the report in non-page oriented way in the current version, but we would consider introducing interactive layout for the other viewers for future versions of the product.

Kind regards,
