Hello

We can get reports to display in the viewer and can export ok but when we attempt to print via the print button in the ReportViewer toolbar, the print dialog comes up but the "preview" is empty and nothing will print.

If we run the same in Chrome, it works fine.

Any suggestions?

We're currently on version 5.3.12.119 but I couldn't see any fixes relating to this in the Updates.

Thanks

Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,

We were not able to reproduce the issue locally  and because of that we will need some more information about your issue like step-by-step guide on how to reproduce it and what is your current setup. Also please have in mind that if you are using the Silverlight ReportViewer you can always use the native printing which will not have these problems.

Also please check whether our online examples are running as expected. If they are then try with the examples provided with the product (located in Start -> Telerik -> Reporting Q1 2013 -> Visual Studio 2010 Examples -> C# Solution).

I've checked some of your demos.

These also do not print in IE10.  They appear to be trying to do something but nothing happens.

In IE 9 (different computer) I get the save/open option for PDF format, but in Chrome they bring up the print dialog with the page preview correctly showing.

I don't it to export to PDF using this button, I want it to print correctly as it does via Chrome.

Hey - only to make sure which kind of IE10 you mean: Desktop or WinRT?
I think his could make difference?!

To further clarify, I'm running a desktop PC (not a tablet or anything like that)

On your demo site:

Using IE10 APP (via the Win8 start screen) it will open a PDF instead of a print dialog
Using IE10 program via the desktop, it looks like it is trying to do something but nothing happens.

On Chrome via the desktop, it opens the print dialog correctly.

I am experiencing the same issue.  When I click the Print icon in the report viewer toolbar, the dialog opens in IE10 but when I click print, nothing happens.  On the same computer, in Chrome it works fine.  When I try to view the printer properties after clicking the print icon in IE10, the dialog locks up and I have to kill IE from the task manager.

This is from IE10 in desktop mode.  Printing anything else in IE works as expected.

I have the same problem.  IE9 does not do anything, but looks like it is.
Firefox 17.0.1 tries to bring it up as a pdf but errors.  Google 25.0.1364.97 works great.
Telerik reporting used to print, Big Bug!  I can reproduce on any telerik report from any Windows PC

Hello Cheryl,

We have checked our online demos and they are working correctly in IE (WinRT and Desktop). Please note that printing a report requires a PDF plugin to be installed on the browser. If there is no such plugin the report viewer will export the document in pdf and you will still be able to print it (which is what happens in your case). Also for IE ActiveX Filtering should be disabled and PrintMenu should be enabled. For more detailed information about printing please check the True Print help article.

Hi,
I do not see, from your reply, that it prints in IE and Mozilla  using the webforms reportviewer.

Hi,

There was issue with the newly introduced native PDF plug-in for Firefox 19 which we have fixed in the latest internal build (v7.0.12.228). There are no known issues with IE10.

Please, try to print any of our online demo reports and let us know if you experience any problems.

Kind regards,

FYI I've just updated my Adobe Reader version to the latest, then I can now print ok using IE10 desktop

Telerik, what is the minimum version of Adobe Reader required for this?

Hello Cheryl,

As mentioned in Design Considerations for PDF Rendering the exported files are PDF1.6 version and can be opened with version 7 of Acrobat and Adobe Reader. More likely in your case the PDF plug-in was not enabled or installed and installing Adobe Reader fixed it.

Let us know if you have further questions or concerns.
