I'm using the technique outlined in the KB ID 1025 to generate a hyperlink in a report displayed on the web.  It works great.  The problem I have is when the user exports the report to Excel.  I'd like to prevent the report from rendering the HTML code for the hyperlink.  Is it possible to know when a report is rendered to HTML and when it's rendered to another format?

Thanks!
James

Hello James,

I think you've missed the point of the article which does exactly what you've outlined - namely differentiate between the format you're in. Please review the description and solution of the KB article once again. If you download and run the attached projects, you will notice that the html markup is being preserved only in html.

Steve -

Thanks for your prompt reply.  I took a closer look at the web solution attached to KB 1025 and was able to get it working properly.  One (small) issue that I encountered while working with the sample solution was that the solution included references to the full version of Telerik reporting DLLs.  Since I'm a trial user, I had to update the references accordingly.

Not only have I been impressed with the product, I've also been impressed with the support that I've received as a trial user.  I wish more vendors would follow Telerik's lead...

Hi James,

Actually there are not Telerik Reporting assemblies included in the application, just references to them. The KB article has been prepared with a previous version of the control and they do need to be updated. Anyway the KB article you've used is merely a temporary solution until we introduce our rich textbox item and further on a fully html handling item, which would work for all formats.
We would also like to thank you for the kind words - we are really happy when clients appreciate our products and support. We always do our best to "deliver more than expected".

Kind regards,
