Hi,

I'm currently evaluating using the RadScheduler in a new ASP.Net MVC enterprise application and so far it looks like it's looking promising, especially since you now have odata support instead of just asmx. However, we also require mobile functionality for tablets and possibly phones. I can't seem to find any concrete information on this although I did see one post claiming an extension was being developed to provide better mobile support. Is that compete? I noticed if I use your demos on an iphone I can touch and drag the appointments around but I can't view their detail, delete them and I couldn't seem to resize them either.

I don't mind have to do a little coding/extension to the control to better support mobile I just need to know if it's possible or has the work already been done. If so, can you point to any demos or example code?

Secondly, what functionality is not available when using the RadScheduler in ASP.Net MVC? I've read a post that indicated that the PDF functionality would not be available. Is that the case? What else will be nonfunctional?

Before we potentially purchase a license, I need to know.

Thanks.

Hi Daniel,

Currently there is some mobile support provided for RadScheduler which, as you have already noticed, has a few limitations. The following help article explains more on the limitations of RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX when used in a mobile or tablet environment: http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet-ajax/introduction-mobile-support.html. However, these are the issues we aim to improve in the upcoming major release.

Regarding the RadScheduler's incorporation into a MVC project, there are some limitation in here as well -- it is related to the server events of the control which one can not subscribe to and provide handlers for in a MVC project. Since, you are interested in binding the RadScheduler to a OData data source I believe that the controls should work just fine. Indeed, we have some examples for RadScheduler in a MVC project which you can take a look at:

I hope you will find the information provided useful.

Hi Ivana,

Thanks for the detailed reply, I appreciate it.

Is there a planned release date for that major release including those mobile issues? Also, is the scheduler extensible enough that we could add our own mobile support?

Thanks.

Hello Daniel,

The next major release is planned for the middle of October. Given that the release of Microsoft Windows8 more or less at the same time, there might be some slight change of the release date, though highly  unlikely.

Regarding your second question -- in its current state, the RadScheduler does not offer extensibility in the sense that you could add your own mobile support.

Doesn't look like this has been resolve yet?  When browsing the demo radscheduler, I can't add new appointments or open an existing appointment.  Is that true?

Hello Daniel,

We resolved that problem under IPad and are now doing fixes for Android browsers. Could you please specify what device have you tested under and which is the demo you have tried?

Thank you,

Hi, Sarbjit.

The last meaningful activity in this thread was about a year ago and it refereed to a then recent version of the controls.

To better answer your case, please open a new support ticket / forum thread, and explain your case there. Do include information like version of the controls you are using, iOS version, other browser information you think is relevant.
