Hello,

I would like to know if it is a normal behaviour that the Grid does not show the columns in design mode ?

When I let the Grid to autogenerate the columns or when I specify each column, the Grid is almost always empty.

Sometimes, I can see the columns that I created with the designer but when I close the form page and reopen it, there is no columns in the Grid.

Is it a visual bug in design mode ?

Jérôme

Hi Jérôme,

Thank you for writing.

In fact, this is an issue that appears only at design time when the MasterGridViewTemplate.Columns collection has been changed. The issue has been already logged in our bug tracking system and it will be addressed in the next major release  - Q1 2008.

If you have any additional questions, please contact me.

Best wishes,
Georgi

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.

About this, I would like to ask you two other questions:

  1. I have tested other controls libraries and I noticed that the telerik GridView is slower then other components to build rows and cells after binding with a datasource. Is it possible to improve these performances with the current release or do you work on this for a future release?
  2. In the case I buy the current release of the RADControls for Win forms (Q3 2007 SP1), will the future release be free (Q1 2008 and later)?

Thanks.

Hi Jérôme,

Thank you for getting back to us.

We have recognized that we need to improve upon the RadGridView provided in Q3 2007 Service Pack 1. Since that release, we have made fundamental changes to the way this control functions, resulting in a significant performance boost.

We have released a beta of the new version of the RadGridView, as part of the Q1 2008 Beta. I encourage you to download it, and give us your feedback. It will enable us to move the suite in the direction most useful to you.

Regarding your second question, if you purchase our RadControls for Winforms Developer License + Subscription, $999, you will receive free major product upgrades, new product releases and Gold Support package for a period of 1 year as part of your subscription. In other words, if you purchase the Winforms controls with subscription now, you will receive our Q1 2008 release at no additional cost as well as all major upgrades, which will be relased untill March 15, 2009.

I hope this helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Sincerely yours,
Lin
