On the demo when I print with the HTML5 viewer it creates a popup and then downloads a PDF, when I click on the PDF, then it brings up a print menu. A longer process and hoops to go through and more pop-up blocking.
Now vs the ASP.NET version on the demo, it just brings up the printing dialog.
I'm using chrome on windows 8.1.
I think my question is more on the future of reports. HTML5 viewer is new and probably has stuff to work out. I'm currently using ASP.NET viewer and I'm very happy with it. The ASP.NET viewer isn't going away anytime soon in favor or HTML5 is it? Are there any advantages of the HTML5 viewer that should make me drop the ASP.NET one?

Hi Dan,
Due to peculiarities regarding browser and plugin detection and many unknowns regarding the mobile browsers, we have decided to initially release the new viewer without the direct printing functionality used in the WebForms report viewer. Still we will consider to introduce the direct printing for HTML5 report viewer in subsequent release.
Generally the HTML5 report viewer is very different from the WebForms report viewer. Still here are some of the HTML5 report viewer advantages:
If you want to use it in WebForms project you may find useful the attached demo.

- Out of the box, the Report Viewer is built to output a responsive design and fluid layout that uses CSS3 media queries for improved experiences on various devices and resolutions.
- Enabled for easy theming by taking full advantage of Kendo UI themes.
- It can be used in non ASP.NET projects.
- Out of the box support for MVC project.
- Support for Icenium.
- Supports all modern browsers including the mobile ones.
If you want to use it in WebForms project you may find useful the attached demo.

Peter, this was a horrible decision on Teleriks part.
We just implemented the HTML5 viewer and our customers are up in arms now because of the loss of functionality!
Is there any ETA on when this might be implemented again?

Hi Scott,
We decided to include printing functionality as of the ASP.NET ReportViewer's one in a consecutive release.
In few weeks you would be able to download our internal build and test the feature at your side.

Hi Stef,
Has this been released to market? I too have used the html5 report viewer in a recent project and now have users and product owners who are not happy with the behavior which requires the user to first generate a PDF and then print.
