Hi,

Save the SVG as image and then use it with a PictureBox

Thanks for the reply KS, but i'm looking for a solution when the SVG is Modified that will recreate or convert the vector -based image on the fly or automagically

Hi Dana,

Displaying an SVG object directly in a PictureBox or other reporting item is not supported.

In general, the report is a static document visualizing the assigned data, based on the created template. An item in the report cannot be changed without re-rendering the report. Thus to display an image in Telerik Report you can use the PictureBox item, and the SVG object converted into PNG or other image format.

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Has this policy re SVG files changed yet?  One of the main points of being able to create reports is printing and as we all know bitmap formats can look terrible when printed - especially when looking at logo type formats and thus SVG or other vector formats are critical.

Hello Jon,

PictureBox items are converted to bitmaps in PDF with standard 96dpi settings (the format used on printing from a web viewer).

You may be interested of getting the previewable page in SVG format that can be further handled in code - Telerik UI for AJAX ClientExportManager.

Hi Stef

Thanks for the response.

Are there plans to do the vector support on the picturebox - or dedicated control in the future?

As more and more people are using SVG it would make sense to support it as an image source

Regards

Jon

Hello Jon,

Such task is not included in the existing plans. Please feel free to add a feature request for having support for SVG input, including details about the expected result  in different rendering formats.

In general, the True Print feature used for printing from browser relies on export in PDF format. You can export programmatically in any supported format like XPS, where the document will have to be handled manually (e.g. send the document to printer connected to the server machine, or submit the document to the client).

Stef
