I see from some of the posts here that Telerik has a PDF Viewer available for the latest release of SilverLight and WPF. Does anyone know if this feature is available in Telerik Reporting or if there are any plans of adding this feature.
Thanks.

Hi Brian,

Can you share why do you expect such feature to be available in Telerik Reporting product? Telerik Reporting only has report viewers which can show your Telerik Reports in the platform you have chosen. The document format you export the report to and handling/showing this document to the user is not in the domain of a reporting product.

All the best,

Why does report viewer wraps texts incorrectly when PDF export works well?
We have been using telerik reporting for last couple of years and are currently using the latest one.

Sample scenario is, let's say we have a status report where each status is separated by linebreak.
We have a textbox inside of a group (body part of report) and have it datamap to a list of status.
After each status, we use "databound" callback to insert a new line (each status is stripped of any/all linebreaks).

Problem is, depending on how long the status is, textbox wraps correctly and other times it does not.
For instance, let's say there is a status that is just long enough to wrap to the next line by one word.
On PDF export, it wraps correctly.  On ReportViewer, it fits status into one line but creates two lines for it.
It is almost as if it thinks that there should be two lines (which is correct) but decides to show it on one line.
So on report viewer, we get two empty lines (one created by reportviwer and another we insert in callback).

For this reason, perhaps a PDF report viewer is needed for web apps.

Hi Sean,

Thank you for the description of your scenario, however you have not mentioned which report viewer you're using. Also does this problem occur when using specific font or when the text is set as bold/italic?

Have in mind that different medias have different accuracy and their native methods for calculating sizes differ, however we have a common layout engine. That is why in some rare cases during processing it is calculated that two lines are needed, but the specific media differs a little so the text fits on a single line, but the two lines space is preserved.

Kind regards,
Steve
