I would like to pass a parameter to the webservice that would populate my dropdown. It doesn't appear that this is currently possible?

As you have mentioned, currently there is no such functionality, but we shall try to add it for the next official release.

Epic fail on the part of Telerik that this was not included in the original control release, and now, more than a year after the control's release, is still not possible.
