nothing show on preview

Hi,

I new in telerik report .

I was asked to evaluate whether telerik report suitable for our application and able to convert existing report written in crystal and ReportBuilder2012

I downloaded and installed the telerik report trial . my pc has mssql2008R2 and mssql2012 installed .

i try create a report using telerik designer (standalone) wizard . when execute query , the result show up but on the report when I click on preview , nothing show up . just a blank paper .

am i missing something ?

how do I convert crystal report ? I don't see any convert option in telerik designer?

Hi Charles,

The report converters are only supported in the Visual Studio designer. For more information check out Converting reports from various versions of CrystalReports KB.

Up to the blank report make sure you have saved the report prior to previewing it. If you want to avoid the manual saving prior previewing the report, our suggestion is to upgrade to the latest internal build.

thanks for your reply. you help me solve the first question but for the converter part . the link of "how to" is too little info to the point it never explain anything at all.

is the converter come with telerik or not and why do I need to modify VS config ?  my understanding of converter is from a program either from open.. (from the menu) or import (from the menu) . once done it show me in telerik report format.

can you give me a clear guide on how to do the convert ?

Hi Charles,

The converters for Telerik Reporting are made by Telerik. You need to modify the Visual Studio configuration file, as the converters and the Telerik Report Designer both operate inside the Visual Studio application.

The Telerik converter from CrystalReports is built against version 10.2.3600.0 of CrystalReports. This version of CrystalReports comes with the installation of MS Visual Studio 2005. If you have this exact version, you do not need to modify the configuration file of VS. Only if you do not have this version installed, you have to define binding redirection rules in the configuration file of the Visual Studio you are using.
