Node Select Event

Is there a Select event for the nodes? We need to expand the node on click of the "folder icon" and open up a new window on selecting the Node Text.  We are also hiding the + & - icons for the tree using css and attaching an event handler for the click event of the folder icon.  Is there a way to achieve this?


Basically different functionality for click and select.
