Keep Visual Cue even when drag drop finished

I am trying to write a "linking view" where items from the left hand side link to items from the right hand side.

I figured the easiest way for me to do this was with the drag and drop components you provide.

Is keeping the visual cue "arrow" permenantly visible possible? and can this visual cue line be re-created when the screen is re-loaded without user intervention?
 
or should I just be adding a connector line manually?
