Hi everyone;
I have a problem with printing reports in landscape format in WORD document. My report is a very simple one with the following properties set:
Landscape = True
Paper kind = A4
Also I am using Telerik reporting Q1 2010 and Office 2010
however when I export the report to Word I hava noticed that the page size is A3 instead of A4. This makes my prints to go over the boundries of the page therefore missing some of the data. Anyone has any idea what the problem is? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks;
Amir

Hi Amir,
Actually we do not have export to Word in the current version. I guess what you refer to is the RTF export, which is opened in MS Word, but is far from what an actual Word document is and has quite a few limitations. The issue you're describing is caused by applying improper margins, which according to us is a problem of how MS Word handles the print of RTF files and we do not have control over that. If you manually change the margins from Page Layout, you would be able to print it as expected.
Anyway, as the Q1 2011 Roadmap shows, we've started working on Open XML formats, which would include the .docx format i.e. you would have native word document and such problems should not occur.
Best wishes,
Steve

Thanks Steve;
Yes I guess I was refering to RTF. I have also tried creating a report with the default margins, but still its not working properly.

Hi Amir,
It is the MS Word program that messes up the margins when printing and not the produced file, so what margins you have specified in the report settings should not matter. For the time being until we implement the .docx format, we recommend exporting to PDF for printing, which is in fact what we do internally when printing through the web report viewer.
Kind regards,
Steve

Hi Steve
Just elaborating on this a bit; The problem is loading the RTF in Word 2007, 2010 actually opens the file perfectly. In 2007 when you try to change the page size it does a few strange things, like never showing a selected page size.
The report is actually being included into a report book. The book has a mix of landscape and portrait pages.
I had a look at the RTF file and the report going into the book that contains the landscape section starts as:
\sect\sectd\paperw16837\paperh11905
Adding the landscape section tag into here seems to fix the problem and Word 2007/2010 opens the file as A4 Landscape instead of A3 Landscape, and you can also then change the page size without issue, unlike without this tag.

Cheers,
Travis
