I'm working on a new report that will have a number of pictures embedded in it. This report is being exported to PDF and downloaded by users for printing. When testing a report that has two pictures in it, each 1.8mb jpegs, the size of the PDF is 40MB!

What I'm wondering is if this bloat is normal for PDF's and if there is a way to decrease the file size?

I just tried setting FontEmbedding to Subset and the file size actually grew to 44.6MB. Yikes! I was hoping it would shrink.

Hello rh,

Can you please send us the report that you are exporting. We want to examine why the PDF file becomes so large.

Best wishes,

Hello rh,

To our greatest regret, we have located an image conversion bug in the PDF Rendering Engine. We have identified the reason for the huge files and will start working on it right away. It will be definitely fixed for the next release.

Since you have helped us find a really major bug, we would like to thank you. Your account has been updated with 2000 Telerik Points.

Can you still send us the report that becomes over 40 megabytes when exported to PDF. We want to play around with it, while fixing the bug. Thank you in advance.

Sincerely yours,
Ross
