On the bottom of the http://www.telerik.com/products/whats-new.aspx page, in section

RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX

there is a grid with text "World Stats" etc.
How can I recreate such layout of the header? Is it simply an added image? If so, to what part of the Grid skin it was added?

Hello Jacek,

For similar behavior, you can add an image to the CommandItemTemplate of RadGrid and display the command item only on top of grid. See this demo for a live example:

Thanks.

BTW: Do you have plans to publish new examples based on those new, slick, Q1-2012 metro-style skins? To be honest, my first impression was "Wow! Something new and pretty slick.", then I tried to recreate those examples using embedded skins, but I found that green metro is available only as a custom skin, and it is not exactly the same as on the page that advertises brand new Q1-2012 build.

Hello Jacek,

We are also planning to provide dlls for the custom Metro skins, the number of which is planned to increase. With assemblies it would be quite straight forward to add them to your application.

Currently you could build your own assembly with custom skins, as shown here:
http://www.telerik.com/help/aspnet-ajax/introduction-skins-external-assembly.html

As for providing specific examples with the new skins, we are not planning on doing such, as their base look can be seen using the Skin Chooser in our online demos. For custom styling you could check out some of our example applications, like the new Image Gallery and Telerik Store apps:
http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/imagegallery/default.aspx
http://demos.telerik.com/aspnet-ajax/ecommercestore/

All the best,
