How to migrate a Desktop report to a Web report

Hi

I have created reports in the Telerik Desktop Report Designer (v19.0.25.313) and I want to be able to open them in the Telerik Web Report Designer.

When I try to upload the .trdp package into the web Assets Manager I get an error - see screen sample.

How can I migrate a desktop report to a web report?

I am sorry to hear that you are facing any difficulties with the Telerik Reporting product.

Usually, the reports that are created with the Standalone Report Designer and saved as .trdp files are compatible with the Web Report Designer. However, it important to note what are the exact versions of the two designers.

I have created a brand new report with the Standalone Report Designer (latest Q2 2025 version). Then, I tried opening it in the Web Report Designer (an older Q1 2025 version). Indeed, a similar error occurs on my end in this case when the versions are not matching:

Once I upgraded my project using the Web Report Designer to the same latest Q2 2025 version, the report is uploaded successfully: 

I suspect that this might be the reason for observing the unexpected behavior on your end. However, without actually having the precise serialized report, we can make only conjectures what would be the exact reason. Could you please elaborate?

I would highly encourage you to check the version of the Telerik Reporting product with which the report was created and the version used in the Web Report Designer. If the two versions are matching and you are still facing any error messages, it would be greatly appreciated if you can provide the report you are trying to upload. Thus, we would be able to make an adequate analysis of the precise case and provide further assistance. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
