Hi Stanley,

I haven't been able to replicate this issue, nor have I been able to find this problem logged in the Public Issue Tracking System
Can you add the code here (using the format code block) to show how to replicate this please? I'll be happy to take a look at it.
Thanks
Richard

Stanley,

I'm afraid I can't get to your code sample. Please can you add it into the message using the format code block. The other way would be to open a support ticket.
Thanks
Richard

Hello Stanley,

Thank you for writing.

We have not received reports on such errors so far. In this sense, it is essential for me to get your project, since it will allow me to reproduce and analyze the issue on my side.

Just like Richard, I was not able to download the source from the link you have provided. Please open a support ticket and attach your project there.

I am looking forward to your reply.

All the best,

Hello Stanley,

I have downloaded your project, but I am unable to replicate your issue.
May I suggest that you also check all of your project references to ensure that all the Telerik assemblies are up to date.
If this is the case, you can go to your account section to open a support ticket.

Richard

Hello everyone,

Thank you for writing.

Stanley, thank you for the video and the sample project. We managed to reproduce the issue on our side. It is already logged to our Public Issue Tracker under ID 10927. To vote for it and subscribe for its status updates, please follow this link: http://www.telerik.com/support/pits.aspx#/public/winforms/10927

Please excuse for the caused inconvenience. We will do our best to address the issue in the next major release. Due to the fact that the error occurs at design-time, I am not able to provide you with any workaround.

Thank you for your cooperation. Your Telerik points have been updated.

Kind regards,

Hi Stanley,

Thank you for writing.

We did our best to address the design-time exception in Q2 2012. It turned out, however, that the issue requires resources we are currently not able to allocate. The issue is still with highest priority in our TODO list and we will do our best to address it soon. Nonetheless, I am not able to provide exact time-frame. Please excuse us for the caused inconvenience.

To subscribe for status updates, please click the star appearing under Issue Tracking at the right-low corner of the PITS page.

Kind regards,

i have the same problem. it seems it was not fixed after 2 years.
i am using the 2014.3.1202.40 version of the Telerik.WinControls.GridView.dll

i am using a RadGrivView (a control derived from RadGridView) in a UserControl and it throws the same error when i save it at design time.

is there a fix for this?

alez :(

Hello Alexandru,

May I please ask you to supply us with your project or a sample one, where the issue can be reproduced, together with the steps that we need to take in order to replicate it. This will be really helpful as we don’t have access to the project previously supplied.

You can upload it somewhere or you can open a ticket and attach it there.

Thank you in advance for your time and cooperation.

Regards,
Stefan

I'm having a very similar problem with a RadGridView:

"Code generation for property 'RootElement' failed. Error was: 'Object does not match target type.'"

The form (containing the RadGridView) hasn't been edited at all; the only changes are those made by the Designer generated code.

It's worrying to see that this has been a known issue for almost 2 years but has not been fixed.

I'm having this problem too, on a regular basis. I usually fix it by deleting the grid, saving the form, and then copy the grid of a previous version. It is a really annoying problem which cost a lot of time.
