I've imported a spreadsheet with 12pt text. When displayed on the page, the text size shows 12pt in the toolbar, yet inspecting the size using dev tools in Chrome shows the text is 9px. Since I have a large monitor, this is quite small.

The problem can be seen by importing the spreadsheet attached to this post I had made last week. The problem is visible in the spreadsheet impot/export demo as well.

Now that I'm looking at the demo, I also notice that, while the toolbar shows "12" (and an Excel user would assume that means 12 point), the text there is 12px which, again on my large monitor, is much smaller than 12 pt.

Thanks.

Hi,

Please accept my apologies for the delayed response.

The Spreadsheet currently treats font sizes as pixels. It looks like this is not the correct behavior when reading an Excel file.

I've logged an issue that we'll use to share our findings and to update our progress.

Thanks for the reply.

It appears, then, that there are two errors here.

The imported spreadsheet treated the 12pt text as 9px, rather than 12px as would be expected by your answer.

The spreadsheet created directly in code treats the value "12" as 12px rather than 12pt, as a spreadsheet would.

Please advise if I'm missing something here.

Thanks.

Please disregard point #2 above. I see now that the documentation clearly states that font size is treated as pixels rather than points.

Might I suggest that, since this is different behavior than what an end-user would expect, the toolbar reflect the units as 'px' so as to not cause confusion?

Thanks again.

Hi,

Agreed, showing the unit in the UI is the minimum we need to do. I hope we'll be able to get the support for pt back, but we're still investigating why this was removed during development.

Also feel free to comment in the issue directly as well. We appreciate your input on this.
