I recently went to add a new report into an existing project. I added the parameters to the report and went to add my filter. When I click the ellipse to add the filter, the entire report locks up and I have to close the file using ctrl-alt-delete.

I have created a new report, openened other existing reports, upgraded to the latest build of terlerik reporting and have the same issue no matter what I do. Any ideas as to what is going on here? I have created an extremely simple new report, and have this issue regardless of what I do.

Hello Philip,

You are the first one to report such a problem and we have not been able to reproduce it on our end. We would need as much information as possible:
  • What OS do you use?
  • What Visual Studio version do you use?
  • What Telerik Reporting version do you use?
  • Have you tried this on another machine?
  • Does this happen with every single report or only a specific one?
  • Does this problem surface everytime you click the Filter ellipsis or only with concrete steps?

Any additional information that you find relevant would be appreciated.

All the best,
Steve

OS = Windows XP Professional 64 Bit
Visual Studio = 2005
Telerik_Reporting_2010_1_10_317_dev.msi
I have tried this on another machine, and it does appear to be localized to my machine
Happens with every single report
Happens every time I click on anything related to creating a filter. Doe not matter whether it is the filter under parameters, the main filter or when I right click and choose filter.

This is really strange, because up until this point, it has been working correctly.

Hi Philip,

Unfortunately we have not been able to reproduce it on our end. As it happens only on a specific machine, try to reinstall Telerik Reporting and if it does not help, try repairing Visual Studio installation as well.

Sincerely yours,
Steve

Did you ever get this fixed? I'm having the same issue.
Also,
I upgraded to the current reporting verion (2009 Q2 => 2010 Q1) and reinstalled Visual Studio 2008 SP1. Still happening. Mine does it on the Filter or Grouping Ellipse or right click => Add new Group. Basically, any time it needs to bring up that dialog box where you add the formula.

No, I have to use another maachine just to edit the filter.

You and me both. I suppose I will end up reloading visual studio. I am trying to get an upgrade, so I am waiting for the funding to come through.

I was thinking of DL'ing the source and looking at what is called when you click the ellipse. see if I could trap it...but who has that kind of time? The project I'm currently working on needs about 7 new reports all with grouping. At least VS2008 has document recovery so when it crashes I don't lose my changes.
