[Solved] Error registering the viewer with the service. An error has occurred. Access to the path is denied.

Hello, I'm new to web development, and I'm currently facing an issue with viewing reports on my website when it's uploaded to the server using IIS. The problem is that sometimes I can't view the Report Viewer, but other times I can. When I can't view it, I get this error message: "Error registering the viewer with the service. An error has occurred. Access to the path is denied." Where should I start checking for this issue?

This issue can be a serious headache and no one so far has highlighted one important fact. Remember if you are running more than one project/application on your host server that uses Report Viewer, make sure you have provided each applicaiton a unique HostAppId on ReportServiceConfiguration so that there is no conflict when the project is hosting. Note, that the report viewer registers with the service but that may already exist since the HostAppId is of the same name in other applications running on the same host server

Hello Abodabe,

Thank you for the attached screenshot!

The error indicates that the Reporting service cannot access the folder specified as the service's storage, a permissions issue so to speak.

For details on how to resolve that problem, please refer to the Error registering the viewer with the service. Access to the path X is denied. - Telerik Reporting KB article and try the solutions suggested there.
