Hello,
I am attempting to install the WPF controls trial, and have downloaded the following file: RadControlsForWpfSetup_2011_3_1222.exe.  I am having the same installation issue as this thread http://www.telerik.com/community/forums/aspnet-ajax/general-discussions/error-while-installing-new-version-for-telerik-ajax-asp-net.aspx

I have attempted the following to resolve the issue:
1) I have rebooted my machine and attempted to install a second time.
2) I located the installer directory in the %temp% folder, move this directory to a different location, and attempted to install it as an admin ( I am working in Windows 7)
3) I disabled my anti-virus program temporarily and attempted to install the trial.
4) Rebooted again, immediately disabled anti-virus and tried again.
5) Lastly I chose the debug option on the error window and launched VS2010.  Attached is the error from Visual Studio.

I also have .NET 4 installed on this machine as well as the telerik silverlight controls, so I do not think the prerequisites are the issue.  Do you have any additional ideas I could attempt to install the trial software?

Thanks,
Coulter

Hello Coulter,

Thank you for contacting us.

In the thread you cited we couldn't locate the reason for the problem, but I hope you can help me to do so.

It would be very helpful if you provide me with more exception details, i.e. stack trace, inner exceptions, because that would help us to locate the statement which causes the exception.

Could you sent us all exception details you are able to collect with the debug option?

Looking forward to your reply!

Kind regards,
Chavdar,

Hello Chavdar,
I've attached several files which provide the information you requested.  The inner exception was null inside visual studio, so I did not bother to capture it for you.

ProblemDetails.png - this is the details of the problem I see when the "Telerik.CommonInstaller.UI has stopped working"
stacktracefromexception.png - this is a screenshot of the stacktrace that the error shows me when debugging in vs2010
ApplicationErrorLog.png - this is the application error log as found in my event viewer
NetRuntimeErrorLog.png - this is the .NET runtime error log as found in my event viewer

Aside from this, is there anyway I can get a direct download of an *.msi file for the wpf controls that I could attempt to install?

Thanks,
Coulter

Hi Coulter,

Thank you for the comprehensive reply.

We will investigate the problem and I hope that we will be able to come back to you with a solution soon.

Meanwhile, you can continue with the evaluation of our products by downloading directly their *.msi installers from the following page.

Once again, thanks for the cooperation!

Best regards,

Hi Coulter,

Sorry for the late reply.

I've tried to reproduce the problem, but with no success. We didn't received such a report from other customers too (the forum thread you mentioned describes a failure during extraction, and the issue on your side is on application start).

Still, we've examined the logs you sent us and our guess is that this is kind of WPF runtime problem (we can't be more specific). If you have another machine available, you can try to run the application and check if the result differs.

Let me know if I can help you with something else.

Best regards,
Chavdar,

Hi There,
I'm trying to evaluate this product. However I can't get through the installer. Attached file has the screen shot of the error. Please understand the you might be turning off a lot of potential customers by providing a trial version with defunct installer. If the installer can't work, I wonder what the product be like?

I'm running

Win 7 Enterprise SP1 i5 4Gb 64bit
Microsoft Visual Studio 2010
Version 10.0.40219.1 SP1Rel
Microsoft .NET Framework
Version 4.0.30319 SP1Rel

Fix it and let me know.

Hi Musthafa,

I'm sorry to hear that you hit a problem running our trial installer. Please, follow this link (http://www.telerik.com/offline-trial-download.aspx) to get to the offline installers page, where you can download a *.msi installer in order to continue your evaluation.

Regarding the error you received, it seems that the installer ran into a permission problem. Ensuring that you have read/write permissions to your %TEMP% folder may solve the issue.

Do not hesitate to come back to us, if you need any further assistance.

Kind regards,
Chavdar,
