I am designing a report that processes a massive amount (>3,000,000) of database rows.

I want to have a drill down report where the master report performs an aggregate query, and the query for the child report only gets run when the user expands on the master report node.

Can this be done with a drill down report? Or will it always populate each sub-report at the beginning, whether it's visible or not?

Hello Andrew,

You can add a couple of subreports to your master report which will not be expanded by default. And when the user expands the subreports which they want the reports will be rendered.

Another thing that you should be aware of is that there is a known issue of the toggle visibility. Even though the expand of the toggle visibility is removed, when the report is rendered this option is not respected. A fix for this will be delivered in a subsequent version of Telerik Reporting. Please, excuse us for the inconvenience.

Hi Telerik Team,

Is the toggle visibility issue already fixed in Telrik Reporting Q3 2014? I'm encountering a problem with toggle visibility if I have a subreport within another subreport.

Hello Em,

Please paste screenshots of the report in the Report Designer and details which item's Action object is set and its targets. Also provide the report's code files content
