BTW, I'm followed the MVC sample project and would like to contune using the same solution where it shows usage of *.cshtml, telerikReportViewer*.js/html thingy... but with the usage of Dataset.

Any component that implements IListSource, including DataTable, DataSet and DataView, can be used to feed a report with data via the ObjectDataSource Component. You can use this data source component while designing your report to connect it to your DataSet.
