for the last two days I tried to follow the instructions from
http://www.telerik.com/support/kb/wpf/scheduler/how-to-implement-a-new-custom-theme-in-a-few-steps.aspx
and try to adapt these for RadGridView.
Unfortunately there are a many XAML template files and the I am not able to get it working.
Can you help me?

You may use the approach demonstrated in this online help article "Creating a Custom Theme Project - Using the Telerik Approach". I have prepared an example for you where you can see how this logic is implemented.
