Just thought I'd mention that I noticed that the spell check dialog box (accompanying any rad.editor on the telerik site) is rendering funny lately. It kind of looks like part of the skin resources are missing or not loading correctly.

To the telerik web masters... Did you ensure that you updated the radcontrols folder in the root of your web application when you upgraded the dll for rad.editor? ;)

Hi,

Can anyone suggest a suitable control from the controls suite for achieving the data layout like so:

http://perryworld.co.uk/testarea/sample.gif

It is basically a parent, with a count of children and then each child with a count of their children. I was considering the repeater control but thought there may be a telerik control that is suitable.

Many Thanks

This is definitely a miscellaneous question and has nothing to do with RAD controls but everyone is so smart here I thought I'd ask it! :- )

I have an .aspx web form in my website and I have it set up to be hit once per hour.  I have a special requirement, however.  There are tons of things being done inside the "Page_Load" event and I only want that code executing one at a time.  In other words, if the web form was hit twice at about the same time, I dont want the Page_Load executing twice at the same time. I want the first "Page_Load" to be completely done before the second "Page_Load" even starts.  How do I set this up?  The rest of the web app needs to be running at full speed at this time of course, I just am concerned with the Page_Load on this particular web form.  This probably has something to do with locking and threads but I can't find out how to do it.

Hi guys, I mean no disrespect by the title of this thread. I'm sure a few eyebrows must have been raised when Atlas was announced over there.

What I want to know is how Telerik can go up against the behemoth Microsoft? What is the plan to stay alive and to stay ahead of them? Won't Microsoft eventually gobble up all the AJAX market-share as they seem to always do? It's a scary prospect for both Telerik and their customers alike. I am a customer of yours and I'm currently developing using your r.a.d.controls. The product you have is amazing but I'm wondering if I'm late to the party now or will the party go on?

Best regards,

Victor

Here's an idea for the telerik site-

Can you consider implementing some simple URL rewriting for your site? Many of your pages seem to use QueryString parameters to display their content, which makes it very difficult at times to figure out where you are based on the browser URL.

For example, if I go to http://www.telerik.com/forums I will be automatically redirected to http://www.telerik.com/default.aspx?pageid=2200. Why not use a URL rewriter (which I think you sell with SiteFinity) to make the URL more readable?

You could even go a step further and use rewriting so that we could easily jump between product forums by "hacking" the URL (such as "/forums/callback" or "/forums/grid"). Not only would it be easier to use, but I think it would make your forums easier to search via Google et al.

Love the site and the forums; I just think telerik of all people can do prettier URLs.

Thanks~

Hi,

I don't know whether anyone has used the new google calendar but it has a pretty cool alert box and I was wondering if anyone knows how to do it ?

Basically, it pops up a layer in the middle of the screen and it fades everything in the background to white (about 50%).

If that doesn't really explain it then I've taken a screengrab here...

I thought that layer transparency only worked in IE but this seems to work in Firefox too, also I have no idea how they have centred the layer in the middle of the screen.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Jon

Can someone tell me how I can trust this hotfix, when installing it to the example site that Telerik installs breaks when you apply the update?

I've applied it to my applications, and it works, but I worry that when a change that Telerik makes, BREAKS something THEY created...  the little developer in the back of my head worries something else is wrong.

Can search engines effectively index a site that is built using the AJAX functionality of the Telerik suite?  The crawlers index your site by following the links from page to page but using AJAX their are no links for it to follow that I know of since they can't process scripts.

My site is managed from a CMS so building the site map xml document that they recommend is not as easy as it sounds and it doesn't handle all the possibilities that link based browsing allows for.

Is this something that Telerik has taken into consideration?

Jim

BTW, SEO means "Search Engine Optimization" in the marketing world if anyone doesn't already know that.
