I recently took over a machine from the developer that was using the Telerik RadControls for Ajax and Telerik Reporting controls. I attempted to open the examples installed in this directory: C:\Program Files\Telerik\Reporting Q2 2008\Examples\VB\ by clicking on the solution file. I used both VS2005 professional and VS2008. Each attempt gave me the following errors.
The application for project 'C:\Program Files\Telerik\Reporting Q2 2008\Examples\VB\WinDemo\VB.WinDemo.vbproj' is not installed.
Make sure the application for the project type (.vbproj) is installed.
I also received the error for these projects:
WebDemo
VB.ReportLibrary.vbproj
So I uninstalled Telerik Reporting and downloaded it again, and re-installed. No errors or warnings were observed during the installation. I then attempted to open the same solution with VS2005 and VS2008 with the same results.
My OS is Windows XP with SP3.

The problem seems to be related with your Windows and VS install rather than with the Telerik Reporting product. There are numerous suggestions and different variations on how to resolve the problem. Please give them a spin and let us know of the outcome.

My solution for VS2008.
I created a blank solution. I then add the existing projects of VB.ReportLibary and VB.WinDemo. At this point the projects were converted so that they could be added to the blank solution. I then created a new web site and called it VB.WebDemo. I added each of the existing items from the installed VB.WebDemo project. Now the Telerik Reporting examples are working in VS2008.
I tried the same thing in VS2005, but it could not see the VB.ReportLibrary.vbproj file when I tried to add an existing project to the blank solution. Same thing happened when I tried to add the existing project file of VB.WinDemo.vbproj. Doesn't make any sense to me why VS2005 could not see these files so that they could be added to the new blank solution.

I'm having the exact same problem with Q3 Ajax asp.net version.
I'll try your suggestion James. I also would think after installing I could simply load it up.
I'm using Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition SP1 on Windows XP OS.
