Can someone please direct me to an example where the user uses a calendar(s) to set a date range for a report parameter?  For example, I need to see all records from Jan8 to Feb16; where the user sets the date range at runtime.

Thanks,
Rich

Hello Jay,

I've attached a sample report showing the functionality you've requested. It uses the AdventureWorks database that is shipped with the Reporting examples. Give it a spin and let us know if further help is needed.

Hi,

We are just starting out here at my company using Telerik tools.  Do you have something more immediately functional than a zip file to show how to use a calendar to enable date range selection?  This should be pretty basic stuff I would think.  The videos do not suggest doing this.  We already do this with Reporting Services.  I was using the label reports in Telerik's wizard yet also need date range functionality.

Thanks

Hi Larry,

The zip file contains a sample report along with its dataset i.e. everything you need to be able to run it. The example is using the AdventureWorks database that is installed on your machine along with our examples. You can open the Visual Studio examples, place the report and dataset in the class library and you're all set.

Kind regards,

Steve,

Unfortunately,  I cannot get the example to work.  Also, I look in the code and I don't see anything special added for date parameters, so I am thinking Telerik handles date parameters out of the box, like reporting services.

So, even if I do get the examples to work I am back at my original question: as in Reporting Services, if I have a date parameter I get the date-picker component automatically - does Telerik do the same?

Back to the example, I added the XSD and .cs files to the examples but the solution won't build because of this error:

Could not find type 'AdventureWorksDataSet5'. Please make sure that the assembly that contains this type is referenced. If this type is a part of your development project, make sure that the project has been successfully built.

Could not find type 'AdventureWorksDataSet5TableAdapter'. Please make sure that the assembly that contains this type is referenced. If this type is a part of your development project, make sure that the project has been successfully built.

The variable 'adventureWorksDataSet5' is either undeclared or was never assigned.

Hi Larry,

By default the dataset would have the namespace of the current one it is into, while the report class persists its original namespace. If you try rebuilding the project it would show the errors in the error list and clicking on them would lead you in the report InitializeComponent() method where you should replace the old namespace (ClassLibrary1), with the new one (Telerik.Reporting.Examples.CSharp).
Anyway I've just changed those for you and you can find the modified files attached to this post. The answer to your question is yes - we have built-in report parameters that come with out of the box UI when you set them to Visible=true. More info on the parameters is available here.

Best wishes,
Steve

do you have a working sample using the calendar date range? I tried using the attached sample and i'm having the same issues compiling.

Hello Rick,

Not sure what is the big problem getting the sample report to run, when it can be run without any changes if placed into our Visual Studio examples (using Telerik.Reporting.Examples.CSharp namespace) or with a few small changes if in other namespace (since the namespace of the dataset is always changed accordingly to the current namespace). Anyway I've attached a full blown project containing class library with the report and a web site with ReportViewer to show the report and filter it using the report parameters.
