Hi,

I've worked with Telerik controls on previous projects. On my current one I've been asked to build some dashboards inside of SharePoint 2007 and have been looking at Dundas Guage to achieve this:

I haven't used Dundas before and would prefer to tell my boss to go for Telerik, can the Rad Chart component to this inside of SharePoint?

Best Regards
Kieran

Hi Kieran Southern,

Unfortunately RadChart for ASP.NET AJAX does not provide support for gauge controls and it would not be possible to achieve the desired functionality with it. We are currently working over a WPF charting control that would come along with a gauge suite as well. Our current estimates are that it will be available in the second half of this year -- once we are ready with it, we are planning to port the available code to Silverlight as well, so it would be possible to utilize the gauges in ASP.NET projects as well.

Telerik,

would you consider adding functionality to your WPF controls to allow server side rendering of static graphs for ASP.NET?  I would be interested if you were creating WPF Bullet Graphs /Microcharts if these could still be used in ASP.NET as static PNG/GIF images.

Hi Jafin,

We are currently in the process of porting our WPF chart control to Silverlight and the Silverlight version of the control should be available with the Q1 2009 release in the end of February. Once it is released you should be able to plug it in ASP.NET applications using the same approach as demonstrated here for the RadGauge integration in ASP.NET.

That said we do not plan enabling pure WPF server-side rendering for ASP.NET as such process would require quite powerful graphics capabilities on behalf of the server workstation in order to render a decent image and we do not believe this is the case with the majority of the currently used web servers.

Also, we do not have immediate plans of implementing bullet graph but we will consider it for implementation for one of the future releases of the WPF / Silverlight chart control.

Kind regards,
